  Southern Railway : Tatkal Reservation

 

For genuine passengers who could not reserve well in advance, Southern Railway has introduced a unique facility: the Tatkal Reservation. This facility provides passengers confirmed accommodation in the Sleeper Class, on payment of a nominal premium. The Tatkal Reservation is currently available on the following trains.

Salient Features
  • Tatal quota is available in AC 3 tier class in Train No. 2842 Coromandol Express. In other trains tatkal quota is available only in Sleeper Class.
    		•
  • Confirmed reservation at a premium of just Rs. 50/- per passenger for Sleeper Class, Rs.150/- for AC 3 Tier Class.
    		•
  • Tatkal Reservation starts one day in advance at 8.00 a.m.
    		•
  • Tatkal Reservation can be done at any terminal for any trains mentioned above.
    		•
  • A Photo Identity Card issued by Government or Public Sector Organisation / Credit Card / Driving Licence / Passport/ Voters Identity Card/ Ration Card with photo must be presented in original at the time of booking.
    		•
  • The Passenger must carry the same travel authority in original during travel. In case he is unable to produce the same he will be treated as travelling without ticket and penalised as per rules.
    		•
  • The passenger can book accommodation upto six berths for himself and his family members.
    		•
  • RAC/Waitlisted Passengers booked against general quota can avail Tatkal quota on payment of premium charges and production of identity card.
    		•
  • If the Identity card holder decides to cancel his journey. all the berths reserved by him will also be cancelled.
    		•
  • No refund is permissible in case of cancellation by passengers holding confirmed reservation in Tatkal quota.
    		•
  • Tatkal Reservation can be availed only by full fare paying passengers. Concession ticket holders cannot avail this facility.
